Emma-isms

A conversation Emma and I had today:

Emma: Mom, does this match?
Me: No, go change your shirt.
Emma: But mom . . .

Emma comes down stairs in a new shirt.

Emma: Mom does this match?
Me: No, go put your white butterfly shirt on.
Emma:Noooo, I don't want to.
Me: You can't go outside until you change your shirt.

15 Minutes Later, Emma is still wearing the same shirt.

Me: Emma, why don't you go get the mail.
Emma: No
Me: What? Do you want to get in trouble?
Emma: I don't want to go outside, it's hot.
Me: Put your shoes on.
Emma: No the air is hot and you said I couldn't go outside until I changed my shirt.
Me: . . . . .

2 points Emma, 0 points mom.

The "Fixed" Hole

We had an incident and innocent doors were injured. The names have been changed to protect the guilty.
One night, the girls were mischievously playing after they had been put to bed. "Mack" went upstairs to put them in their place and as he "gently pushed" the door open with his fist a loud crack echoed through the house. The damage had been done. With a depleted pocketbook, this poor defaced door cannot be fixed. So I did what any mom would do. I covered the hole with a cute sign for the girls' room. My mom wanted to see it, so here it is.

(At least the hole is centered on the door.)

D-Backs

We went to a Diamondbacks baseball game with Kristy and Tony a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of fun, but the D-Backs fans have nothing on the A's fans. I am used to games where people are cheering, screaming, and yelling at the umps. So, I cheered, screamed, and yelled at the ump. No one else did, and I got a lot of strange looks. But, hey! That's the way you are supposed to watch sporting events.

Mike, Laura, Kristy & Tony

Yes, that is my husband, ladies and gentlemen.

Much better.

We watched fireworks at the end of the game in honor of Sept. 11. The stadium is really cool because it has a retractable roof. We got to watch them open it and it was pretty amazing. They can move 9 million pounds of steel in under 5 minutes like they are opening a car door window. Only in Arizona do they have a retractable roof because it doesn't rain.

Emma's First Day of Kindergarten!

We have a know it all kindergartner in our midst.
If I try to correct her when she is doing homework, she informs me that it is not the way you do it.
Her teacher is the end all be all when it comes to knowledge and mom doesn't even come close.
She loves her school, her teacher, and her friends, but she hates how long it takes to get over.
Emma has started school.
At home before school starts.

Waiting for her teacher to come out. "Mom, stop taking pictures."

Walking in line at the end of the day with "bubbles and duck tails." It is a cute way that they get the kids to walk quietly. They have to puff up their cheeks like they have a big bubble in their mouth and they are supposed to put their hands behind their back to make a little duck tail.

The New House

I know that a few of you have been waiting for these so here are some pictures/videos of the new house.

Downstairs:

The kitchen that I love so much, I love all the cupboards and I even have extra space.

Here is the dining area and family room. When you walk in the kitchen is to the left. There is also a living room, but there is nothing in it so I figured it wasn't worth showing.

Upstairs:

When you walk upstairs this is what you see at the top of the stairs. This is the loft: office/library. It is one of my favorite rooms. Eventually we want to put a really big desk against the window on the left.
Here is Anya's and Emma's room. We have a cute vinyl lettering that we are going to put above Emma's bed after we paint. We want to paint it pink of course. I didn't put a picture of the play room because it was messy and I want to do a big mural on one of the walls so I will put up pictures after I do that.

This is my favorite room of the whole house. My closet is huge and I love it because there is space for everything. Which means that my room can be simple and uncluttered. It is very therapeutic.
