Before our ward split, we had the absolutely best ward ever. When we went to church it was like being with family. Everyone knew and cared about each other. It was really special. Our bishopric was really caring, involved, down to earth, and super fun. They did a young women's over nighter at a cabin and it was a special experience.
Emma and I got to go together and getting there turned out to be quite an experience. I ended up missing the turn off for the cabin and drove about an extra hour out of the way. We were driving through this canyon and after we turned back we were getting really close to running out of gas. It was dark, late, and rainy. For the last 30 minutes of the drive I kept an eye out for houses that looked like they were occupied in case I ran out of gas and had to walk to ask for help. Emma and I said a prayer to help us on our journey. I wasn't too thrilled going by myself to ask a stranger for help on a dark and rainy night. We drove on empty for about 35 miles, being on pins and needles the whole time waiting for the car to sputter and stop. We finally pulled into a gas station outside of the town where the cabin is. We were pretty relieved and felt like our prayers had been answered.
That night we had a fireside and dessert. The next day we went on a really fun hike through a box canyon. It was a really fun hike there was some simple rock climbing to get through. The walls were really pretty and unique it was like a bunch of little rocks squished together to make a wall. While we were there we did some simple repelling. Emma was a rock star repelling for the first time. She was fearless and did a great job.
