So Proud

Today was the last day of school and I was invited to come to the school awards ceremony for two awesome reasons.

Emma got a Principal's Pride medal which means she got straight A's every semester. Let me tell you, at this school, with 6 very hard semesters, that is no easy feat. We were so proud of her. All of the teachers stood in a line on the stage in front of the school and she got to run across and give them all a high five! Way to go Miss Emma!

The second awesome reason I was invited was because Mike got Honorary Mention for teacher of the year. It was a big honor. The school has a policy that the PALS (PTA) can only give teacher of the year to a returning teacher, but they got such an overwhelming amount of nominations for Mike from kids and parents that they created this Honorary Mention Award just for him. It was really touching and I cried when they gave it to him. Some of the 6th graders even gave him a standing ovation and when he was walking up to the stage, Emma ran up and gave him a big hug.

The presenter said some really nice things about how much good he has done for the school and the students and expressed how much he will be missed.
She listed some words that his 6th grade class used to describe him:

awesome, cool, smart, amazing, happy, nice, artistic (Mike said he was being sacrastic), smiley, tall, funny, flabergasted, supercalfragilisticexpealidocious, incredible, intelligent, hilarious, joyful, grand, the bomb diggity, unique, swagg, one of a kind

Mike said that the rest of the day, he had so many students and parents of current, past, and would be future students tell him how sad they were that he wasn't going to be there. He said there were even a few 4th grade parents who said that they wanted to have him for 6th grade.

It was so nice to see support and love from so many people. Congratulations Mike!
